![]() In April of this year, I put some solar panels on my roof. It is a small system (1 kW), but I don't use a lot of power. My consumption averages around 3-4 kWh of electricity per day. A big part of this is my fridge, which consumes around 1.25 kWh a day. Now with the solar system running, my net consumption is down to less than 1 kWh/day. I am collecting lots of data. House electricity consumption and inverter production every 10 seconds and detailed inverter data every 1 minute. I haven't done much with it yet. Combined with my very efficient gas tankless water heater, I'm minimizing my energy impact. You can see some pictures of my system here and here.

Hello Christian,
I found your page accdently via Lbnl Web page, after I saw your Pv system on your roof. Dont shade the trees around the house PV system ? regards ümit
Yes, the trees are a bit of a problem. I used a device called the Solmetric Suneye http://www.solmetric.com/ to determine annual solar access in various spots on my roof. Now that the sun is high in the sky, I don't have too much shading, but as the sun path will get lower (winter) it will get worse. The other tricky aspect is that part of my room faces East and the other part West. No South exposure.
